How to Move Forward When Life Gets in the Way

pastor hawkins journal moving forward in the race of life

Sometimes life can throw unexpected obstacles in our way. These obstacles can cause us to stumble, others cause us to slow down. Troubles arise in our finances, health, school, at our job and even in our own homes. However God's word encourages us to never EVER give up!

James 1:2-4 NIV reads "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.. "

So how can we move forward in the race of life?

1. Let go of what is holding you down. How can we ever clear a hurdle while trying to carry burdens that only God can carry for us? We must learn to release.

2. Maintain a spirit of gratitude. There is nothing the enemy hates more than when you declare this battle is already won. Thank God in the midst of your troubles and remember that He's brought you through countless times before and He will do it AGAIN.

3. Keep the faith. Pray about the current situation and seek wise counsel. Attend Bible studies or call your spiritual leaders. Do not give into negative voices that seek to keep you from winning your race!

When in doubt keep my one word theme for this year in mind... "MOVEMENT."

I believe Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is credited with saying it best.

If you can't fly then run,

If you can't run then walk,

If you can't walk then crawl,

but whatever you do

you have to

keep moving forward

God bless you, feel free to leave your questions or comments below.
