2021 New Year Address

Dear Members of SHILOH,

Like many of you, I was saddened to see the events that unfolded at our nation's capital on January 6. The division, hatred and deadly violence that we witnessed was not only able to be successfully carried out, but was encouraged by a sitting President and even some leaders in congress. Like so many others, I reflected on how this mob would have been handled had the participants been overwhelmingly people of color.

As we entered this year with renewed hope in what is to come with the release of a new COVID-19 vaccine, and a historic election of the first black Senator to represent Georgia, the recent display of hate so close to home, has left many of us feeling once again discouraged. Saints, in this new year of 2021 God has told me to tell you to have peace. Even yet, God is with us.

"...Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you." 2 Corinthians 13:11 (KJV)

Let it be known that in this moment of chaos, God still has order and still has the final say. It is with this unshakable belief that I announce our theme for the year will be SHILOH COGIC in Relentless Pursuit of God, Who Cannot Fail! With you, I declare that together, we are moving forward, not backward. COVID-19 will not stop us from preaching the gospel and racism and social injustice will not stop our outreach to our brothers and sisters in need. We will continue to do the work of the Lord as we place our trust in Him.

Lady Hawkins and I continue to pray over each and every one of you and your families. We thank you for your outpouring of love, generosity and support during this season.

May God bless you,

Floyd C. Hawkins Sr.

Pastor, Shiloh Church of God in Christ
